Most AI commentary comes from people who either haven’t sat at an executive table or haven’t written code. My career lives directly on the seam between the two.

Over 25 years across enterprise information storage, big data analytics, and commercial digital leadership, I served as Chief Operating Officer of realestate.co.nz and later Chief Product & AI Officer at Pure SEO. Five years before ChatGPT arrived, I was writing convolutional neural networks in Python from scratch to understand where models hold up and where they fail.

In 2023 I founded AI Innovisory in Auckland — a completely independent, vendor-neutral practice that has now trained and advised over 400 New Zealand organisations. Alongside it, I chair the NZ Marketing Association’s Data Special Interest Group, teach its flagship AI courses, and ship open agent frameworks and geospatial visualisers on GitHub.
